Commercial Transparency

Advertising Policy

A transparent overview of how we fund our operations, our FTC disclosures, and our strict guidelines for commercial partnerships.

1. The Firewall: Absolute Editorial Independence

PureCalc is unconditionally committed to providing objective, medically accurate information. Our editorial team and medical review board operate completely independently from our advertising, marketing, and commercial teams.

Advertisers, sponsors, and affiliate partners have zero influence over the clinical calculators we build, the formulas we utilize, or the content we publish. We do not alter medical facts, suppress scientific consensus, or manipulate mathematical algorithms to appease commercial partners or drive revenue.

2. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Affiliate Disclosure

To keep PureCalc free for users worldwide, we generate revenue through participation in affiliate marketing programs. Under FTC regulations, we are required to disclose this relationship.

If you click on an affiliate link on our website and make a purchase, we may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. We strictly limit our affiliate relationships to products and services that we believe provide genuine value to our users. However, the presence of an affiliate link does not constitute a medical endorsement of the product.

3. Display Advertising Guidelines

We allow third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense or premium ad exchanges) to serve display advertisements on our website. We enforce strict categorization rules on our ad inventory to ensure that the ads displayed are appropriate for our audience.

Prohibited Advertising Categories: Because we operate in the health and wellness space, we hold our advertisers to a higher standard. We algorithmically and manually block advertisements that promote:

  • Illegal drugs, non-FDA-approved pharmaceuticals, or unregulated dietary supplements claiming to cure, treat, or prevent diseases.
  • Misleading, deceptive, or scientifically debunked medical claims (e.g., "miracle" weight loss pills).
  • Tobacco products, vaping, or illicit substances.
  • Content that exploits fears, body image insecurities, or mental health vulnerabilities.
  • Adult content, gambling, or predatory lending practices.

4. Clear Distinction of Sponsored Content

Transparency is paramount. If we ever publish sponsored content (content paid for by a third-party brand or corporation), it will be explicitly and unmistakably labeled as "Sponsored," "Paid Advertisement," or "Ad" at the very top of the page.

Sponsored content is still subject to the same clinical accuracy review as our editorial content. We will not publish sponsored material that contradicts established medical science or promotes harmful practices, regardless of compensation.

5. User Data and Advertisers

Advertisers on PureCalc do not have access to your personal biological inputs. When you use our calculators (e.g., inputting your weight, age, or lab results), that data is processed entirely within your local browser and is never sent to our ad servers or sold to third-party data brokers. For more information, please read our Privacy Policy.

6. Contacting the Commercial Team

If you represent a brand and wish to inquire about ethical advertising partnerships, or if you wish to report an inappropriate ad that slipped through our filters, please reach out via our Contact Page.
